Baron Georges Hausmann’s massive urban embellishments during the Second Empire and recent construction projects undertaken during these last years have allowed archaeologists to read the passionate history of Lutetia through subterranean Paris. The text studies the history of the city linked to the topography of the sites and the course of the River Seine, illuminating in particular the Gallic origins of the city and the evolution of the Roman town.
